4 days bangkok trip

yeahs. finally found the time and motivation to blog about this trip.
this was a 4 days trip to bangkok, thailand. i went with my uncle and mother, and everything was self-planned.. (not tour group).

anyway, left singapore on the night of 22nd may (thurs).... 9pm flight which meant that have to reach changi airport by 7pm. mother booked SWISS airline! didnt book budget airlines coz the air ticket cost almost the same as SWISS, just a little cheaper by a few bucks. anyway, damn nice lah. can watch videos, play games and listen to songs with the ear piece and use the 'remote control' to the screen. they also show us the altitude above sea level, temperature outside of plane, speed at ground level, and time to destination. the plane was moving at a freaking speed of 700-800km/hr, and the temperature outside was -35 degreeC, and at a bloody height of more than 20,000 feet above sea level. the night view is amazing and it is so weird looking at the moon which is below us.

took us 2 hours to reach bangkok and the local time there was 1 hour later than us.
here is part of the airport there

there is this thai man, in his late forties, who is a friend of my aunty. so he picked us up at the airport and drove us to our 1st hotel. (oh, i stayed in 3 hotels to be exact... will tell you guys why later)
on the way, he stopped by a petrol station. and i took this picture.
it was raining... so a bit unclear
Photobucket
this is just a small petrol station. but there are also other stations like ESSO and SHELL.

we were supposedly to sleep at this hotel called Baiyoke Boutique. mother went online to book 2 nights at this hotel. but when we reached there, the reception guy told us the shower head in the toilet has spoilt. so he will be bringing us to another hotel called Baiyoke Suite. (they had 3 Baiyoke hotels in the vicinity... another one is called Baiyoke Sky)........... i was thinking .. not bad ah.. first night here can upgrade to suite hotel. good good. got bigger room.
and indeed, here is the room:

2 single beds - mother and i

Photobucket
the living room with tv and another table (didnt take photo) ... and the bed at corner for my uncle.
bad thing here is that everything is rather old.

first night ended like that.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
next morning... i was disturbed by some annoying birds chirping early in the morning.
then, guess what we found:

Photobucket
swallow's nest (top left)..... that means it is bird's nest (expensive stuff lah)
there were so many of them flying around

Photobucket
the swallows and the view from the 36th level.

anyway, woke up damn early plus it is one hour late in bangkok.
so, the 3 of us went to explore the nearby area... i took many random pictures of the streets

mother shopped the most on this day (fri) while i bought 2 tops only.
bangkok is a shopping heaven. seriously. must bargain all the way to get cheap.
i think all my tops i bought... each cost less than S$10.
i also had to take care of my friends = buy back something for them
think for so long lah. dunno what to buy on the 1st day

it is super duper hot and scorcing in thailand...
so it is a must to try their iced coffee! very easy to find coz there are alot of stalls.
for a medium size macdonald coke cup....... it only cost at most 30 baht. which cost like S$1+ for a cup of mocha / latte / espresso. but funny thing is that the ice fills 3/4 the cup and the rest is coffee. (thats why so cheap).... but must try. nice and shiok.

then in the afternoon, we went for massage!!!!
if you guys are intending to go find traditional thai massage or foot massage... you can get it cheaply at 200 baht per hour.
i had foot massage (didnt dare to try the traditional one coz they will be twisting your whole body)... AND HOLY *toot*
this manly girl (i think you know what i mean) did foot massage for me!
haiya, didnt take pictures. if not i think u guys see.. will roll on the floor and peng. foot massage was painful can. almost died under her hands. LOL

shopped and rest, shopped and rest. too many places to explore lah.
then at night, sat on a tuk tuk taxi, this man say that for 50 baht he will bring us to a clean restaurant and to the night market.
shit. kanna scammed. the seafood damn expensive can. we ordered like lobster and crab and some other stuff.... add up to almost 6000B can! which is like S$250++
haiya. eat already. what to do.
then we went to the night market after that. oh, the clubs are mainly there
damn interesting. coz if you just glance in. there are bar top girls wearing bikinis dancing at the pole. and is not one girl to one pole. but many to one pole. so they are just shaking their bodies only. which i think it is kinda of weird and hilarious. plus it is the exact same for the rest of the clubs. just that every door you see through, the bikinis change colour. so, one club one colour. lol

i bought my aasics shoes at the night market for 880B. originally, the man sold it at 1300B. win liao right? my mother did the bargaining. most of the things sold there are the same. quite boring lah. is just that see whether you heng or not; find a shop that sells cheaper stuff.

the night pretty much ended like that.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the next morning (sat), continued to explore the area and look what i saw!

A&W!!!!!!!!! this is totally extinct in singapore.

the public buses

the streets

anyway, checked out the 1st hotel around 12nn and we headed to the 2nd one.
it is called Sofitel Silom Hotel. Much higher class than the 1st.
anyway, the reason why we stayed in 3 hotels is because my uncle signed up some package and was given 2 nights of hotel stay. so, 1 night 1 hotel. so that makes 3 hotels in total. and the funny part is that it was a package for 2 adults only. so my uncle and i checked in with our passports but my mother went out walk in the vicinity. we act like thieves lah. cannot be too obvious that there are 3 people instead of 2.

after that, we got lunch at some nearby chinese restaurant. food is cheap and nice.
expecially their xiao long bao! damn sastifying.

went to the town area where the famous 4-faced buddha was.
Photobucket

Photobucket

actually, i didnt want to do the praying, but the vendor who sold the flowers and inscence sticks die die make me pray for good luck. then like wth. coz the weather damn hot and i really dont like smoke in my face.
and it was seriously damn hot! after i just started praying at the 1st face, i am totally drenched in perspiration can. hot, smoky and the place damn packed.
almost died.

Photobucket
the elephants at the sides

Photobucket
and they also had cultural dance.

then for the rest of the afternoon, walked and walked and walked.

Photobucket
map of the area we were at

it was just serious walking the whole afternoon. didnt buy much here coz we mainly walked in the shopping malls.

then, we became thieves at night. mother and i went up the hotel 1st.
then to our surprise:

Photobucket
fireworks!!!!! pretty nice huh.

Photobucket

and here are the photos of the hotel room:

huge toilet

mother and i squeezed on a single bed lah. almost fell.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

then the next day (sun)..... checked out of hotel then went to the last hotel call Novotel.

we took a tuk tuk taxi there.

here's the hotel room:

if you want easy travelling. it is best to stay in this hotel. it is nearest to town and the place there called Siam Square is a place where most teenagers hang out. almost similar to our bugis street in singapore. just that it is much bigger.

shopped more and bought some bags there.
actually, i had the intention to do my nails but we had no time. rather disappointed.
blah blah, wallked and shopped. but more rest time today coz hotel was near shopping area.

then for dinner, the thai friend mentioned above treated us to a chinese restaurant.
and then he drove us to their chinatown area.. which is rather small i say. mother bought quite a number of food stuff there. and i suay suay got stomach ache can. no choice but had to use the damn dirty toilet.

got back to hotel and then went down with my uncle only to walk around. around 9 + to 10 pm, all the illegal street vendors will start up their biz. clothes are mainly sold. but i didnt buy anything there.

bought the shao chuan (bbq meat)... and you have to bbq the meat if you want it hot (meat is cooked already). quite nice. 5B per stick should be the cheapest.

after eating, got back to hotel and sleep.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
last morning (mon), had Dunkin Donuts for breakfast. lol. but i didnt try the donuts but their breakfast menu. then shop for the last 2 hours before check out and go to airport.

bought XXX (eling should know what is this). and it is damn cheap. :)
and no more money left!
i used up all my S$150.... money not enough!

the thai guy send us to airport and we took the 3.35pm flight back to singapore.
watched 27 Dresses but did not complete the movie. arghh. whats the ending? can anyone tell me?

landed around 7.30pm local time. then we went to DFS (duty free shop) and bought liquor. i got myself vodlka : absolut mango.
super nice. must try!!!!!

anyway, thailand was fun. loads of shopping.
and i am flying off again to australia!
HAHAHHAHAHA.

i am flying to goldcoast on the 6 of june (fri) which is tmr.
oh, i took like 4 days to post up this entry. (i didnt post this entry on the 1st of june but 5th of june)
